Sleeping and Waking up!
The Wake or Sleep program from this app function the same way as an alarm to wake you up and a timer to fade off sounds when you are asleep.
The Alarm Clock Sleep Sounds app has a very straight forward and simple way to create your wake program or sleep program but in addition, it also provides a higher level of complexity for those who wish to carefully plan and set up their relaxation programs.
IMPORTANT: The steps we are going to describe below are focused on creating a Wake Up Program, however, they are the exact same steps to create a Sleep Program.
Creating a Program
To begin the creation of a wake-up or sleep program, simply tap on the Sun or the Moon Icon.
The Sun is located at the bottom left-hand side corner of the screen and the Moon at the top right-hand side corner of the screen.
Once you have selected the wake-up or sleep program, the app will bring you to a configuration screen that looks something like this:
Step 0 - Select the type of Brainwave
Before Moving forward with the creation of the program you need to select the type of Brainwave you want to have to play with your program.
- Binaural (to be used with headphones)
- Monoaural (no headphones require)
- Isochronic (no headphones required) Available only on the premium version or full access subscriptions.
You can learn more about these type of sound therapies by simply clicking the "Learn More" button located on the bottom right-hand side of the program configuration screen.
Tapping on the "Learn More" button will open an information screen that looks something like this:
Once the information screen is displayed, you can tap the Monoaural or Isochronic buttons at the bottom of the page so that the informational screen to shows you a brief explanation for each of them.
IMPORTANT: Isochronic Brainwaves are only available on Premium or subscription plans, you can access the upgrade screen from the Isochronic informational screen simply by pressing the "Upgrade to Unlock" button.
Step 1 - Press the '+' sign to begin the creation of a program
Once you have selected the type of brainwave you wish to use for your wake-up program, simply press the '+' button located at the top right-hand side of the screen, to begin creating the program.
Pressing the "Cancel" button located at the top left-hand side of the screen will cancel the program creation and bring you back to the home screen.
Once you have press the '+' button the app will ask you to select a specific time of the day in which you wish this program to begin.
The "Wake Up Time" screen looks something like this:
Simply select the time of the day in which you wish the alarm to go off and then press the next button.
You'll notice right below the "Wake Program" label a small text detailing this is "Step 1 of 7"
NOTE: When creating a Sleep Program, there is no wake-up time so this screen will not be available when creating a sleep program.
Step 2 - Select a Mind State (Brainwave)
Once you press the next button, you will be brought up to a "Chose your brainwave" screen. In this page, you will have a series of options for various states of mind.
- Progressive Wake Up
- Energized Mind
- Quick Awakening
- Confident Day
- Morning Relaxation
- Smooth Awakening
IMPORTANT: Think of Binaural, Monoaural, and Isochronic as brainwave frequencies and each of the 8 categories (or brain states) listed above is available in all 3 frequencies.
For example, there is:
- one Binaural frequency for Progressive Wake Up
- one Monoaural frequency for Progressive Wake Up
- one Isochronic frequency for Progressive Wake Up
The reason why each of those categories (or brain states) are available in all 3 frequencies, is because each person is different and some frequencies may work better than the others, depending on the person that is listening.
The "Choose your brainwave" screen looks something like this:
Scroll up or down to select the Mind State you wish to have when you wake up using this program.
You can only select one Mind State at the time.
IMPORTANT: Not all mind states are available in the free version of the app, to unlock them all you can upgrade the app to the premium version or purchase a membership access.
Step 3 - Select your ambiance sounds
Once you have selected the Mind State you wish to have when waking up with this program, click the next button to continue to step 3.
In this section "Mix your ambiance sounds" you'll have a selection of nature and ambiance sounds to be played at the same time as the Brainwave sound is playing. To make a selection simply scroll up or down and tap on the sound of your choice.
You will notice a small bar with a '-' and '+' symbol is displayed. This bar uses the "Individual Volume" bar and it allows you to select how loud or quiet you want the ambiance sound to play.
In this section, you can select multiple sounds at once and adjust individually the volume for each of them.
- Balcony Rain with a volume set to 30%
- Thunder Storm with a volume set to 100%
- Wind in Grass with a volume set to 50%
All of these sounds together will create a Storm like an ambiance that you will be able to listen to while waking up in combination with the brainwave you previously selected.
The "Mix your ambiance sound" screen looks something like this:
IMPORTANT: Not all ambiance sounds are available in the free version of the app, to unlock them all you can upgrade the app to the premium version or purchase a membership access.
Step 4 - Balance Your Sounds (Volume Management)

In this particular screen, you will be able to configure the volume intensity of the Brainwaves mixed with the Volume intensity of your Ambiance sounds.
You will find a knob set right to the center in between the Brainwaves and the Ambiance sounds.
What this means is that both the Brainwaves and Ambiance sounds will play at the same volume intensity.
NOTE: This volume configuration does not affect the individual volumes set up in each ambiance sound.
If you turn the knob towards the left side, you will give stronger intensity to the Brainwaves and Lower intensity to the Ambiance Sounds.
If you turn the knob towards the right side, you will give stronger intensity to the Ambiance Sounds and Lower intensity to the Brainwaves.
Find the combination that best works for you.
Finally, right below the Volume knob, you will find the "Master Volume" this master volume works directly with the volume of your device and it will affect the global intensity of your Sound Mix. This is why we call it mixing sounds!.
The "Balance your Sounds" screen, looks something like this.
Step 5 - Guided Meditation
Once you have achieved that perfect balance between the Brainwave sounds and Ambiance sounds, click on the Next button to move to step 5.
Guided Meditations are a complimentary audio you can play at the same time as your brainwaves and ambiance sounds.

The Duration of this program refers to how long the sounds will play for.
NOTE: This does not apply to the Guided Meditations, all guided meditations last between 8 and 15 minutes, so when creating a program that lasts longer than that, the guided meditation will be completed and go silent while the Brainwave and Ambiance Sounds will continue playing for the duration of the program.
Simply select how long you wish the sounds to play for and then press the next button.

To configure and create a sleep program, the process is the same we described on this page, the only difference is that a sleep program will not have an "Alarm" time. Since the Sleep Program is created to play instantly and fade out towards the end.
The app allows you to create multiple programs for both Wake Programs and Sleep Programs, however, only the Wake Program allows you to have multiple programs active at once. Sleep Program only allows having one single program active at the time.
If you have multiple Wake Programs active, each time one program goes off it will overwrite and stop the program that was previously playing.
